Katherine Mehraban

Age 59, passed away peacefully at home, with her loving family at her bedside, on Wednesday, December 13, 2017. Kathy was born in Elmira. She was predeceased by her husband Steve Mehraban. Kathy is survived by her parents, Fred R. and Jane (Affeldt) Edmister of Webbs Mills NY; son Jared Mehraban; granddaughter Marilyn Stuckey, both of Elmira; siblings, John G. Edmister with wife Gina of Elmira, Beth Edmister DeFalco of Yonkers NY, and Fred Edmister of Wisconsin; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and co-workers. Kathy was a 1976 graduate of Southside High School. She was always a very artsy person and had designed the cover for the high school yearbook during her senior year. She enjoyed dancing, and had a great love for music and played the cello. Kathy had a long and wonderful career in Virginia as a HR Administrator with her last position being with Fairfax County. Upon the death of her husband Steve, Kathy moved back to Elmira to be with family and worked as the HR Coordinator at Cornell University. She also opened a shop called Kathy and Company with her friend Kathy Bell, where they would create unique furniture pieces. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira, on Sunday, December 17, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Chip Possee officiating. Her family would like to extend their sincere thanks to friends Coralea, Kathy and Diane for care and support they provided to Kathy during her illness.
