Julia Ann Colon, age 79, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. Julia was predeceased by parents, Frank and Irene Shaulis Novotny; husband George Torez Colon; brothers, Paul and Perry Novotny; sister Chloe Gray. Julia is survived by her children, Philip Dowd (Ellen), Melissa Davis (Devaron) and Jason Clark (Dannette); brother George Novotny (Maryann); sister Shirley Novotny; sister-in-law Mary Novotny; grandchildren, Siharra (Jarred), Jason (Lexi), Nathan (Lexi), Lauren, Garrett, Jonathan, Ethan, Owen and Noah; great-grandchildren, Jayvon, Trenton, Khaleesi, Renesmee, Levi and Grayson.
Born in Stoystown PA, Julia was the second oldest of 6 children and oldest daughter. Her family moved to the hills of the Ridgebury PA area while she was in grade school. Julia was a graduate of SRU High School. She married George Torez Colon in 1998. Julia had worked at A & P in Horseheads for several years. She later went to work as a machinist at Trayer Products from where she retired with over 30 years of service. Julia enjoyed cooking and baking. Along with her husband George, she enjoyed watching the New York Mets baseball games on TV. While she was known to spoil her dogs, she especially enjoyed the time spent with her family.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service for Julia at McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
