Joseph W. "Joe" Schiefen

Age 84, passed away at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center on Friday, June 20, 2025.  Joe was born in Elmira, a son of the late Joseph C. and Frances (Sherant) Schiefen.  He was predeceased by his sisters, Elizbeth “Betty” Knox and Rose Driscoll and nephew Ronald Knox.  Joe is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Diane Reilly Schiefen; brother-in-law Morris Knox (with Carolyn Fedele); nephew Jeffery Knox (Diane); niece Kari Wood (Michael); several great nieces, great nephews and good friends .

Joe served with the US Army and the Army National Guard where he reached the rank of First Lieutenant.  He retired as Assistant Treasurer with Hardinge Inc. after 43 ½ years of service.  Joe enjoyed golf, bowling and skiing.  Joe and Diane had a home at Greek Peak for many years.  He was involved with the startup of The Golf Channel and worked with The Golf Channel at the BC Open and Corning Classic for 22 years.
