Age 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Joe was a son of the late W. Henry and Lillian (Newcomb) Call. In addition to his parents Joe is predeceased by brothers and sisters-in-law, Arthur “Butch” and Joyce Call, W. David and Jeannine Call; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Ann and Lee Lepkowski, Marguerite McDonough, Edward and Sharyn Cloke. Joe is survived by his loving wife Patricia ‘Patty” Cloke Call; siblings and spouses, James H. and Shirley Call of Gillett PA, Barbara and Truman Day of Redlands CA, Theresa Drake of Horseheads, Ann Call of Elmira, Mary Jo and Christopher Perkins of Elmira; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-laws, Kathleen Cloke of Elmira, Joseph and Nancy Cloke of Elmira, Kevin McDonough of Edwell NY; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joe was born and raised in Elmira. He attended Booth Elementary and then St. Patrick’s Grammar School. He went on to Notre Dame High School for a year before transferring to Elmira Free Academy from where he graduated. Joe had worked as a surveyor for Weiler Associates for over 30 years. He was a die-hard Boston Red Sox fan and an avid golfer. Joe was a long-time member of the Msgr. John J. Lee Div. of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Elks Club.
Family and friends are invited to call at McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira, on Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick’s Church, 604 Park Place, Elmira, on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. A livestream of the Mass will be available through the Facebook page for Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish (https://www.facebook.com/ElmiraCatholic) . Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Peter & Paul’s Cemetery.
