Joe passed away peacefully at home at the age of 98 on September 27, 2026. He was predeceased by Mary Elizabeth, his loving wife of 71 years; his parents John and Emma Bellomo; mother-in-law, Marie Gaiser and eight brothers and sisters, Albert, Thomas, Michael, Mary, Frankie, Josephine, Robert and John Michael.

He is survived by his four children, Pam (Mike) Sullivan, Mark Belloma, Karen (Jerry) Donahoe and Mary Jo (Terry) Balshuweit. He had seven grandchildren: Andrew (Dominique), Peter (Lisa), Matthew (Tori) Sullivan, Patrick (Natalie), Brian and Colleen (Jeff Hourihan) Donahoe, Amy (David) Hammons and special cousin Michael Lane.

His great-grandchildren, Franklin and Eamon Donahoe, Josephine Hourihan, Herbie Hammons and Theo, Benjamin, Sofia, Aurora, Callum and Andre Sullivan could always bring a smile to his face.

As a young man, Joe enlisted in the US Navy where he served as a Fireman First Class on the USS Guam in the Pacific during the Second World War. After the war, Joe returned to Elmira and worked for American LaFrance. During that time, he began repairing radios and televisions in his mother-in-law's garage. Out of that he established Little Joe's TV on Pennsylvania Avenue which he owned and operated for over 50 years, eventually working side by side with his son Mark. Joe was a devoted family man and friend. He was also a man of faith who donated his time to the Perpetual Adoration Chapel associated with St. Casimir's Church, Elmira.

His last few years he was able to live in his own home with the help from his devoted family and the services of Chemung County. A special thanks to Family Services and Sue who cared for Mary and Joe until their passing and Hannah Foster who provided health visits to his home.

Joe's services will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026 at St. Mary's Church, 224 Franklin Street, Elmira. One hour of visitation will be held at the church from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Joe's name to the Artic League who provided needed support to Joe's family when he was a child.
