Joseph Paul Beaty

Elmira: Age 75, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2022. Paul was born and raised in Philadelphia PA a son of the late Joseph A. and Alma (Gruber) Beaty. He is also predeceased by brothers, Peter and Mark Beaty, and brother-in-law Joseph McDermott.

Paul was a graduate of LaSalle College High School in Philadelphia. He continued his education at Philadelphia College of Textiles and Sciences, earning his Bachelor's Degree. Paul was the third generation to work in the family textile business started by his grandfather. Upon the closing of the family business, Paul continued his career in the woven label industry which brought him and his family to Elmira, and eventually to Thousand Oaks CA. When they retired Paul and Elizabeth eventually made their way back to Elmira. He loved sports, especially Philadelphia teams, and any teams of schools his children and grandchildren attended. A people person Paul loved talking to anybody and everybody! His family was always first with Paul and he will forever be loved and missed by them and all who knew him.

Paul is survived by his wife of 48 years Elizabeth McDermott Beaty; children, with their families: Lisa and Michael Mustico of Elmira, with children Xavier, Julia, Elizabeth and Ava…Jennifer and Dennis Coseo of Elmira, with daughters, Emily, Lauren and Audrey…Joseph Beaty of Camarillo CA, with daughter Abigail…Michael Beaty of Ventura CA; siblings, Kathleen Young, Robert Beaty with wife Kathleen, Gregg Beaty with Joanne Flynn, Mary Ellen Barrett with husband Richard, James Beaty with wife Laurie; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dianne Beaty, Eileen Beaty, John McDermott, James McDermott, Patricia and William Dixon, Michelle and James McCullagh, Christopher McDermott, Anna and Joseph Vitak, Esther and William Malazita, Jeanne and Raymond Clark, Francis and Elizabeth McDermott; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Friday, March 25, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 9:15 a.m., followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick's Church. A livestream of the Mass will be available through the Facebook page for Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish (https://www.facebook.com/ElmiraCatholic). Interment, with committal prayers, will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
