John F. Ryan

Elmira: Age 94, passed away at home in the care of his loving family on Monday, May 27, 2024. Jack was born in Elmira on October 5, 1929, the son of Margaret Sullivan Ryan and William Benjamin Ryan. He was predeceased by his loving wife Barbara DeLaney Ryan, his brother, Joseph and sister-in-law Rita Ryan. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, John Scott and Cynthia Ryan of Horseheads; daughter Kimberley Clark of Horseheads; grandchildren, Kristen (Daniel) Miller, Kelly (Richard) Anderson, Valerie (Christopher) Ward, Kara (Brandon) Sternquist, Garrett (Alyssa) Ryan; great grandchildren, Taylor (Joe) Walter, Ari Anderson, Dominick Miller, Payton Ryan, Mackenzie Sternquist, Kenzie Anderson, Nolan Sternquist, Robert Anderson, Cora and Eva Ward.

Jack met the love of his life, Barbara, at Keuka Lake. They spent many years vacationing at the family cottage there with their children creating a lifetime of happy memories. Jack was a US Air Force veteran and then worked at Thatcher Glass Manufacturing as a purchasing agent for 30 years. After retiring, he spent several years in sales at WENY. He was a communicant and usher at St. Patrick’s Church in Elmira.

The family extends a special thanks to all the dedicated nurses and caregivers that provided compassion and comfort to Dad these past two years.

Family and friends may call at McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W Water Street, Elmira, on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Jack on Saturday, June 15, 2024, 10:00 a.m., St. Mary’s Church, 224 Franklin Street, Elmira.
