Age 30, died on Saturday, March 7, 2026. John was born July 31, 1995, at Millard Filmore Suburban Hospital in Buffalo, New York to Mary Johanna (Canney) and the late Edward Foster. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his brother William and his sister Mary. John was predeceased by both sets of grandparents but had a very large family and has many aunts, uncles and cousins that he loved dearly. The family moved to Elmira in 1997, where John grew up. He attended Holy Family Primary School, Broadway Middle School and Southside High School. John was a boy scout in Troop 43 for several years, which resulted in his love of the outdoors and appreciation of nature. He was a naturally gifted musician and could play the piano or guitar with ease. He was a prolific song writer and worked hard at his craft. John had an interest in the legal system and would often spend time observing court room drama from the gallery; he cared deeply about the plight of the less fortunate including the homeless and animals.

Services will be held privately for close family members.
