John Elston

John J. Elston Elmira: Age 73, passed away Monday, February 6, 2012 at Elcor Health Services. John was born July 2, 1938, the son of the late Earl and Dorothy (Kinkade) Elston. He is also predeceased by his infant sister Lucetta Elston and niece Norah Beechey. John is survived by his sisters and brother-in-law, Elizabeth E. Elston of Elmira, Mary E. and Charles Beechey of Big Flats; nephew Kerwin Beechey of Pittsburgh PA; niece Tegan Beechey of Cuyahoga Falls OH; along with several cousins. John was born and raised in Chemung County. His mode of transportation was his bicycle, which he could repair as needed. John worked on various farms in the county before going to work for Southern Tier News, from where he retired. He was an avid NASCAR fan and memorabilia collector. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of Water and Walnut Sts., on Saturday, February 11, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the conclusion of visitation with Reverend Krista Mendoza officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Those wishing may remember John with a donation to either Elmira Animal Shelter or American Diabetes Association.
