Joan Walsh

Age 86, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2016. Joan was born December 2, 1929 in New York City a daughter of John and Catherine McKenna Tiernan. She is predeceased by her husband, Daniel S. Walsh, in 1977. Survived by her sons: Daniel and wife Carol; Dennis; Michael and wife Shelley; Kevin and wife Mary Kay; 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren. Joan graduated from Fordham University and St. John's Law School, moving upstate in the 1950's. Joan was a beloved teacher at Our Lady of Lourdes/Holy Family Catholic School for over 30 years. She enjoyed reading, travel, beach getaways and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. There will be no calling hours. All are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial for Joan, today, Friday, December 2, 2016, 10:00 a.m., at Ss. Peter and Paul Church. Interment to take place at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing, may donate to Holy Family Catholic School, 421 Fulton Street, Elmira, NY 14904 in her remembrance.
