She was predeceased by her father Lawrence and step-father Darwin Heumann. Due to her health, Joan was forced to retire as a Certified Nurse's Aide in 1993. She relocated to upstate NY from her home in Maine in 2007. Joan was a woman of her word & inspired many lives with her genuine heart. She had a "$100" smile which brought light to those who knew her and even some who didn't. She had a gift of writing along with a creative mind. Although Joan battled health issues for many years, she was a fighter and fought courageously knowing Jesus was by her side. She never failed to spread His glory, even in her final days. Per her request, there will not be a funeral service but instead, a Celebration of Life at a later date. Her daughter's home will be open for those who wish to express their condolences on Thursday October 10, 2019 between the hours of 2 - 4 pm at 159 Bartholomew Rd. Pine City, NY. In lieu of flowers, Joan has requested that donations be sent to Lemonadeforkids - a nonprofit organization founded by her dear friend - at Lemonadeforkids P.O. Box 1275 Standish, ME 04084. The family would like to thank Care First Hospice for their amazing care, kindness & support, as well as Care Givers, for their home health care.
