Joan Murphy

Age 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, surrounded by the love of her family. Joan was born and raised in Elmira, the daughter of John E. and Sarah (Byrne) Bacon. She is predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Eugene T. Murphy, sister Jean Krystof, brothers, James R. and Joseph R. Bacon. Joan is survived by her children, and their families, Therese A. Andrews of Elmira, with sons, Jeffrey and Jeremy; Joseph M. Murphy, with Robin VanAuken of Syracuse, with his daughters, Megan (Kristopher) Keukelaar and Kathryn (Benny) Izquierdo; Michael J. and Christina Murphy of Elmira, with sons, Nathan and Cameron; Catherine M. and John Skordynski of Pine City, with children, Michael and Mara; Patrick and Jenn Murphy of Newfield, with his children, Liam, Declan and Sadie; Kevin J. and Julia Murphy of Elmira, with children, Lauren and Connor; great-grandchildren, Brennan and Makenna Keukelaar; son-in-law David Andrews; former daughter-in-law Margaret Murphy; brother and sister-in-law John W. and Elaine Bacon of Smyrna TN; brother-in-law James Krystof of Lowell MA; sisters-in-law, Ann Bacon of Amarillo TX and Carmel Bacon of Plainville CT; along with many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to Joan's Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, January 27, 2018, 9:30 a.m., St. Casimir's Church, 1000 Davis Street, Elmira. Interment, with committal prayers, will follow at St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery.
