Joan Mccann

Age 79 of Elmira passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Joan was born in Elmira a daughter of the late John A. and Elizabeth Holleran Hintz. She was also predeceased by her sister Mary Jurusik; brothers-in-law James McCann and Robert Dean. Joan is survived by her husband of 55 years William E. McCann; daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne McCann-Sullivan and Michael Sullivan of Elmira with their children Rowan B., Kieran M. and Aislinn E. Sullivan; siblings with their spouses, Anne and Robert Albright of North Carolina, John Hintz of Elmira Heights, Jean and P. J. D'Abbracci of Penn Yan NY; sisters-in-law Helen Dean, Joyce McCann, Lynn Troy; brother-in-law Donald Jurusik all of Elmira; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her beloved basset hound Freckles. Joan was an avid reader and enjoyed solving "word find" puzzles. Her greatest joy was the time she was able to spend with her beloved grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St. Elmira, on Friday, January 20, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Ss. Peter and Paul Church on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 12:00 noon. Private interment will take place at Woodlawn National Cemetery.
