Joan Marie Mandell

Age 87, passed away peacefully at the Chemung County Nursing Facility on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 with her family by her bedside.  Joan was born and raised in Elmira.  She is predeceased by her father Andrew Kolesar; mother and step-father Anna and Gordon Bitner; daughter Catherine Campbell; and sister Barbara Ritter.  Joan is survived by her husband Michael J. Mandell, Sr. with whom she would have celebrated 69 years of marriage this August 11th.  She is also survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Archie Haner of Elmira, Deborah and John Petrisky of Archbald PA; son and daughter-in-law  Michael J., Jr. and Deborah Mandell of Horseheads; sister Marion Burvee of Horseheads; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Joan enjoyed playing euchre and visiting casinos.  In earlier years she enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to call at McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira on Monday, July 14, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  A funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m.  Burial will take place on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at St. Peter & Paul’s Cemetery.
