Jean Milliken

(nee' Macdonell), of Elmira, died Monday July 11, 2016. Jean was the only child of the late Frances Dwyer and Edwin J. Macdonell. She was predeceased by her husband, Cornelius J. Milliken, Jr. in 2012. She is survived by, daughters Mary Coleman (Victor, NY), Clare Milliken (Elmira), Ann Milliken (Saratoga Springs, NY), Eileen (Brian) Beiter (Fairport, NY), Jean Milliken (David) Sabol (East Amherst, NY), sons Dr. Cornelius (Kathryn) Milliken (Elmira), John (Deborah) Milliken (Irvine, CA), Thomas (Ellen) Milliken (Elmira), and 19 grandchildren. Jean graduated from Elmira College with a BA in English. Soon thereafter she and dear friend Leone set out to take NYC by storm. She then married the love of her life, Connie Milliken, after he finally wore her down. They married during his junior year at the College of the Holy Cross over the Thanksgiving holiday. Over the next two decades, a seemingly endless succession of children followed. Her good friends meant everything to her. Through the years numerous escapades ensued with their buddies, in particular Bob and Therese Bower, Leone and Harry Welch, Betty and Donald Olivieri, and Connie and Bill Buckholtz. She was blessed with many other special friends. Thanks to Dr. Thomas Rodgers and the 4D staff at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Clemens Performing Arts Center. The family will receive friends Friday, July 15 at the McInerny Funeral Home, Elmira, from 4:00 through 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, July 16, 2016 at SS. Peter and Paul Church, Elmira, at 12:00 PM.
