Age 41, passed away on Monday April 4, 2016 at home with his loving wife in his arms, surrounded by family. Jay was born in Elmira, NY a son of James M. Heverly Jr. and Mary L. Dolan (Jim) Manly. He is survived by his wife of 15 years Jamie Clawson Heverly; two loving sons, James A. and Jeremiah J.; sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer & Todd Taft of Pine City with son and daughter-in-law, Zach and Stephanie Heverly with son Blake; brother and sister-in-law, Joe & Karen Heverly of Elmira, with children Ian and Jack; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alexander R. and Joanne Clawson, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robb and Laurie Clawson with their children, Nicholas, Emma and Annika; several aunts, uncles, cousins and a lot of great friends, especially his brothers and sisters of the Elmira Professional Firefighters Local #709. Jay graduated from Southside High school and did two years CCC. He had many loves and passions including his love of hockey, NY Rangers, and watching his son James play for the Corning Hurricanes Hockey Assoc., building café racer motorcycles, mountain biking, road bike racing, hiking, back packing, all things outdoors, especially boating on Seneca Lake. He was always willing to lend a hand when needed. Jay was an Elmira City Firefighter for 11 years protecting and serving his community. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, son, and uncle who will be greatly missed. “And now it’s time for you to rest, hang up your gear brother, we’ll take it from here.” Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W.
