Irma Liddy

Of Elmira, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Irma was born in Endicott, NY, a daughter of Jay and Jennie Grover Cornell. She is predeceased by her husband Edward M. Liddy, stepson Martin Liddy, sister Doris Gwara and nephew Dennis C. Gwara. Irma is survived by nephews, Joseph Gwara, Sr., and Phillip Gwara; niece Carol Gwara, widow of Dennis; great nieces, Beth Ann Gwara, Kristin Gwara, and Erin Gwara; dear great nephews, Scott ( Maryelyn) Gwara, and Joseph Gwara, Jr.; step daughter Sandra Liddy (James) Harkness; grandchildren, Kim Harkness, Timothy Harkness, Kelly Adams, Kristine (Richard) Barnes, Elizabeth (Thomas) Crout, Amy Harkness, and Laura (Mark) Henry special niece and nephew, Suzanne Liddy Flemming with husband, Joseph, both of whom have given their all when Irma has needed them; several great grandchildren; and her very dear friends, and neighbors, Ken and Mary Akins, and Joan Cerio. In 1979 Irma retired as a receptionist from Steiner Studios after 25 years of service. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira on Friday, January 17, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will follow at 6:15 p.m. with Reverend Felicity Wright officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Donations in Irma's memory may be directed to either, Chemung County Humane Society and SPCA, Route 352, Elmira NY 14903 or Elmira Animal Shelter, 842 Linden Place, Elmira NY 14901. Irma would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Thomas Rodgers and his staff at their Big Flats office who treated Irma like one of their family. Irma would also like to thank the staff of Caregivers for the wonderful care they provided.
