Irene Lyon

Lyon, Irene V. Age 96, passed away at her home peacefully, Tuesday morning, September 24, 2013. Irene was born in Elmira, NY on July 24, 1917, daughter of Fred and Ora (McLane) Little. Irene is survived by her children, Cornelius F. "Pepsi" Lyon Jr., Horseheads, NY; Ronald F. and Jean M. Lyon, Fairfax, VA; Marcelene L. "Marcy" Coggins, Elmira, NY; sisters, Lula VanTassel, Elmira, NY; Betty Biggs, Spanaway, WA; grandchildren, Cassandra C. Lyon, Roxanne (Grant) Timberlake, Neil (Stefanie) Lyon, Leslie Lyon, Sean (Cindy) Coggins, Kevin (Andrea) Coggins and Timothy (Meredith) Coggins, 9 great grandchildren as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. Irene loved her family dearly, they were the most important part of her life. Irene worked at Remington Rand for 28 years before going to Westinghouse for nearly 10 years; she also was an avid bowler. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Friday, September 27, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 1:15 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
