Ida Coracchio

November 26, 1917 — April 23, 2014

Elmira: Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, April 23, 2014. Ida was born in Chieti, Italy on November 26, 1917 a daughter of Franco P. and Cloridea Scrocarelli. She was predeceased by sisters, Caroline (Ralph) Saravullo and Matilda (Lawrence) Ponzi; brothers, Othello (Dora) Scrocarelli and Peter (Amelia) Scrocarelli; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Grace (William) Marrone, Irene (Sam) Messina, Joseph (Nellie) Cornacchio, Anthony Cornacchio, Pasquale Cornacchio and Jack Fisher. Ida is survived by her husband of 65 years Samuel J. Cornacchio; children, Gloria Cornacchio, Michael Cornacchio with wife Sheila, and Mary Cornacchio McDonald, all of Elmira; grandchildren, Michael Cornacchio of Elmira, Matthew (Katie) Cornacchio of Elmira, Alissa (Mason) Goldberg of NYC and Samuel McDonald of Elmira; great grandchildren, Lily, Ava and Chloe Cornacchio and Carter Goldberg; sisters-in-law, Lucy Rundell, Linda Cornacchio both of Elmira, and Theresa Conklin of Indiana; several nieces and nephews. Ida was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a wonderful cook, enjoyed all sports and was an avid softball player. Ida was a long time communicant of St. Anthony's Church, currently Blessed Sacrament Parish. She was a long time member of the Sacred Heart Ladies. Being with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren brought her the greatest joy. The Cornacchio family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Maria Gublo for the care she gave to Ida. Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, April 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
