Howard Hodder

December 9, 1946 — October 11, 2013

Gillett PA: Age 66, was received into the hands of his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 11, 2013, after a year-long battle with cancer. He passed peacefully at home, attended by his loving wife of 40 years, Connie (Wojcik) Hodder and his children, Dr. Heidi Hodder and Howard Hodder, Jr. He was the most wonderful, caring, loving man a family could want. He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren with his whole heart and centered his life around them. We will miss him more than we can say, but he is now our Guardian Angel. Howard was born December 9, 1946, in Blossburg PA, where he attended North Penn High School, graduating in 1965. After graduation he joined the U S Army and was deployed to Viet Nam. Howard attended Williamsport Area Community College and worked 30 years at Hardinge, Inc., where he made many friends. During his free time he enjoyed hunting, trout fishing, and golfing, as well as spending time with his family. He was looking forward to teaching his grandchildren about the great outdoors. He is predeceased by his parents Clarence and Theresa (Mahosky) Hodder. Howard is survived by his wife Connie, daughter and son-in-law Dr. Heidi Hodder and Dr. Christopher Fucito, son and daughter-in-law Howard S., Jr. and Stephanie Hodder, 6 grandchildren, Amelia, Joseph and Ross Fucito, and Hailey, Lily and Molly Hodder, brother and sister-in-law Elroy and Carol Hodder, sisters and brother-in-law Irene and William Johnson, Sarah Hodder with Mark Couchman; along with many additional relatives and loving friends. Family and friends will be received at McInerny Funeral Home 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Monday, October 14, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, 604 Park Place, Elmira. Military Honors will follow at Woodlawn National Cemetery. The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Phillip Lowry and the wonderful, caring staff at Guthrie Clinic and Robert Packer Hospital. They helped to make the journey more endurable. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Howard's name to Holy Family Catholic School, 407 Fulton Street, Elmira NY 14904, or South Creek Fire Department, 6428 Roaring Run Road, Gillett PA 16925.
