Elmira: Age 83 passed away at her home on Saturday, December 5, 2015. Helen was born in Elmira on February 1, 1932, a daughter of Patrick J. and Mary Troy Hourihan. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by brothers, Joseph and John Hourihan, Sr.; sisters, Agnes Hourihan, Mary Dillon, Jane Broschart and Theresa Hourihan. Helen is survived by brother, the Rev. Raymond Hourihan of Elmira; brother-in-law Charles Broschart of Ballston Spa NY; sister-in-law Patricia Hourihan of Pine City; special cousin Marie Powers of Elmira; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. Helen was retired from Emhart-Powers in Elmira. She was a life-long active communicant of St. Mary's Church and a longtime member of the church choir. Helen was a charter member of the Ladies Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 West Water Street, on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held there on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 10:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., St. Mary's Church, Elmira. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Donations in Helen's memory may be directed to the St. Mary's Church, 224 Franklin St., Elmira NY 14904. Officers and members of the Ladies Division of the A.O.H. will meet at McInerny Funeral Home on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. to conduct a memorial service for our deceased sister, Helen Hourihan.
