Obituary

Glenn B. McClelland, age 81, of Elmira Heights, NY, passed away on March 2, 2026, at home surrounded by his family. He was born on July 24, 1944, at home in Columbia Cross Roads, PA, the son of the late Boyd and Juanita (Brown) McClelland.

In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his sisters, Janice McClelland and Doris Adams and granddaughter, Stephanie Schrock.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Rose (Cicconi) McClelland; three children, Linda Knickerbocker (Joe), Todd McClelland (Bernadette) and Rodney McClelland (Michelle); five grandchildren, Rebecca Goodwin (Brett), William Drew (Alli), Jacob Rice (Erica), Zachary McClelland (Paige Peasley) and Zoey McClelland; several great-grandchildren, two brothers, Carl McClelland (Marilyn), Lester McClelland (Laura) and sister, Joyce Hart (John).

Glenn was a graduate of Troy High School in 1962 and served in the US Army Military Police from 1965-1967 with a rank of E4.

Glenn met his beloved wife Betty in 1967 and then went on to marry in 1968. They would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary this July.

Glenn graduated from Elmira College with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management and went on to have a career as an IT Manager at Dresser-Rand where where he retired in 2000 after 20 years. Glenn and Betty purchased their first apartment house in 1967 and went on to have a career as owner and operated of BGM Realty Management, previously known as B&G Apartments. The next generation will carry on the legacy.

Glenn was proud to be a business owner in the Town of Southport. He, Todd and Bruce Thatcher renovated the building next door to the office that became the Classic Cafe. Glenn enjoyed being a part of the Senior Bowling League. He enjoyed time with his grandchildren and dogs. He especially loved working together with his grandson, Zachary and showing him the ropes from a young age.

The family would like to thank the special caregivers who provided Glenn comfort in his last days.

Family and friends are invited to New Beginnings United Methodist Church, 300 E. Miller St. Elmira, NY on Friday, March 6, 2026 from 10:30am-12:00pm. A funeral service will follow at 12Noon. Interment St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
