Gerald Daly

"Jerry" Age 76, of Elmira, passed away unexpectedly, at home, on Saturday, July 22, 2017. Jerry was born in Elmira, a son of the late William R. and Mary McMahon Daly. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Thomas W. and Maureen O'Shea Daly of Elmira; nephews, Thomas W. Daly, Jr. with wife Amy Winkels of Corning, Daniel P. Daly with wife Mary Elana of Portland OR; cousins, Patricia McMahon of Elmira and Father Bartholomew McMahon of New Jersey. Jerry was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and a U S Army veteran. He was a retired firefighter with the Elmira Fire Department. Jerry was a member of the Msgr. John J. Lee Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He was a student of history and an avid collector of WW II memorabilia. Jerry was a die-hard Detroit Tiger fan, enjoyed fishing, and was a great lover of animals. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Jerry's Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick's Church on Thursday, July 27, 2017, 1:00 p.m., with his cousin Father McMahon officiating. Committal prayers and interment, with military honors, will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Those wishing may remember Jerry with a donation to the SPCA, Route 352, Elmira NY 14903.
