George Torres Colón Age 88, passed away at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. George was predeceased by his mother Maria Torres. He is survived by his loving wife Julia Ann Novotny Colón; children, Ann Marie Rodriguez, Philip Dowd (Ellen), Melissa Davis (Devaron), and Jason Clark (Dannette); sisters, Helen Asencio, Elizabeth Planas and Cecelia Wayne; brothers, Roberto Colón (Ileana) and Joseph Medina; sister-in-law Shirley Novotny; grandchildren, Melinda, Siharra (Jarred), Jason (Lexi), Nathan (Lexi), Lauren, Garrett, Jonathan, Ethan, Owen, and Noah; great grandchildren, Jayvon, Trenton, Khaleesi, Renesmee, Levi and Grayson.
George was born in Puerto Rico and moved to the United States with his family when he was 8 years old. He worked as a forklift operator for many years at Facet in Elmira Heights. He later went to work at Trayer Products from where he retired. George never met a stranger; he could start a conversation with anyone. He loved to fish and in his younger years he enjoyed playing baseball and softball. Spending time with family was his greatest joy.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service for George on Monday, September 22, 2025 at 11:00 am at Woodlawn Cemetery. The easiest access to the graveside service would be by entering the cemetery through the Bancroft Road gate.
