Garrett W. Conover Iii

April 17, 1956 — November 17, 2022

Erin: Age 66, passed away unexpectedly on November 17, 2022. Gary was born in Brooklyn NY, a son of the late Garrett W. II and Therese (Mitchell) Conover. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sister Joyce Marquardt. Gary is survived by his wife Julie Wisneski Conover; children, Zackry Conover of Elmira with fiancée Kearstin Wilk and their daughter Harper Rae Conover; daughter Nicole Conover of Corning with fiancé Jim Davis; sister and brother-in-law Maggie and Brian McChesney of Horseheads; brothers and sister-in-law, Tim Conover of China, John and Lynne Conover of Windsor CT; step-mother Robin Conover of Eldersburg MD; step-sisters, Rori Intriago and Jennifer Frame, both of Maryland.


Gary served his country in the US Army from 1974 to 1977. He was a NYS Corrections Officer, retiring from Camp Monterey. Prior to being a corrections officer, he worked as a tractor trailer driver. Gary always had a love of traveling and never hesitated to jump in the car to take a trip when he had a few days off. He was an avid New York Jets fan. A devoted husband, father and grandfather Gary will be forever loved and missed.


Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Saturday, December 3, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Honoring his US Army service, military honors will be accorded, outside the funeral home, at the conclusion of calling hours. Private services will be held at Woodlawn National Cemetery.
