Gail M. Hicks

Age 76, passed away on December 10, 2023, at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Gail was born and raised in Elmira, a daughter of the late Roswell D. and Margaret (Brown) Haupt. She is also predeceased by her first husband Leonard A. Leljedal, 2nd husband Robert F. Hicks, brother Daniel Haupt, sister Nancy Haupt, sister-in-law Charlotte Roberts, brother-in-law Mike Earley.

Gail is survived by her children: Martin Leljedal (Lisa) of Horseheads, Lisa French (Michael Harris) of Elmira, Scott Leljedal (Ellen Nybeck) of Elmira, Dave Akins (Kristy) of Elmira, Julie Lewis (Richard) of Columbia Cross Roads PA; step-sons: Robert and Brian Hicks; brothers: Richard Haupt (Olivia) of Tucson AZ, Gary Haupt (Karen) of Louisville KY, Michael Haupt (Dawn) of Pine City, Stephen Haupt (Sandy) of Webster NY, David Haupt (Sue) of Forest Lake MN; sisters: Virginia Pringle (Peter) of Jamestown NY, Mary Beth VanGorder (Christopher) of Van Etten NY; sisters-in-law: Mary Haupt of Big Flats, Marcia Earley of Elmira; brother-in-law Marshall Leljedal (Marion) of Pine City; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Gail loved spending time with her grandchildren, playing cards and traveling, when she was able. She will be missed by all.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Gail’s honor at a later date.
