Frederick Powell

Age 92 formerly of Elmira passed away peacefully on Friday, October 25, 2013 at Elcor Health Services. Fred was the son of John Henry and Mary (Wetherell) Powell. He is survived by his brother John Powell; niece Mary Ann Coleman with husband Daniel all of Horseheads. Fred was a U.S. Army veteran who had enlisted in 1939 and served in the South Pacific for the entire period of WW II before being discharged in 1945. He worked for Seneca Beverage for many years. At his request there will be a private family burial. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Elcor Health Services staff, especially nursing aide Michele and floor nurse Karen, for the wonderful care they provided to Fred.
