born to Mary Frances Lynch Treat and Ralph H. Treat at St. Joseph's Hospital, Elmira, on November 19, 1920. He passed away in St. Ann's Home, Rochester NY, on November, 23, 2015, four days after his 95th birthday. He is survived by his sons, Thomas Paul, Francis Homer, Jr. with wife Eileen, and his daughter Mary Lou with husband Dr. Richard K. Wesp. He also is survived by granddaughters, Teresa (Marc) Tramazzo; Kathryn (Darryl) Mallanda; Rachel (Jason) O'Mara; Rebecca (Ryan) McLean; and Emily Treat; great grandchildren, Julia, Sara and John Tramazzo, Alexandra O'Mara, Brayden and Gavin McLean; along with brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Paul D. and Ann Black; Sister Camille Marie Black. Francis was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Virginia J. Treat and brother Ralph Irving Treat. Francis was a Master Sgt. in the U S Marine Corps. He landed with the Marines at Guadalcanal, Solomon Is., in August 1942. Following the war, he returned to Elmira and acquired and operated the American Hotel with his mother Mary for 3 years. Francis was a retired NYS Correction Officer with 33 years of service. He belonged to the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Elmira Elks #62, Marine Corps League, 1st Marine Corps Div. Assn., Troy PA American Legion and VFW. Francis was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Monday, December 14, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A 9:15 a.m. prayer service will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. A special thank you to all the staff at Woodbrook Assisted Living.
