Francis Savino

Age 88, of Elmira, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017. Frank was born in Elmira, a son of Rocco A. and Mary (DiFabio) Savino. He is predeceased by his wife Janet Knight Savino; siblings, Joseph Savino and his wife Betty, Mary "Babe" and her husband James Agan, Roy Savino and Theresa Gamer; brother-in-law James Pirozzolo. Frank is survived by his children, and their families, Rocco F. and Cheryl Savino of Elmira, and their children, Francis (Mike Rosenberg) Savino and Rebecca Savino; Jennifer L. Savino with Paul Ginter, of Elmira; Elaine M. and John Rogers of Webster NY, and their children, Emma (Emilio) Guillen and Jack Rogers; great grandson Maximus Rocco Savino; sisters and brother-in-law, Blanche Pirozzolo of Horseheads, Linda and James Collins of Elmira; brother and sister-in-law Dennis and Diane Savino of Elmira; brother-in-law William Gamer of Penfield NY; sister-in-law Susan Savino of Elmira; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Frank was a U S Army combat veteran serving his country during the Korean War. He was the owner of Savino Shoe Store and Savino's Liquor and Wine on Main Street in Elmira. Frank worked until he was 81 years old. He was a long time communicant of St. Patrick's Church. Frank cherished his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandson..…he will be forever loved and missed. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Sunday, April 9, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A private family service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Interment, with committal prayers and military honors, will then take place at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Those wishing may remember Frank with a donation to either, Blessed Sacrament Parish, 1010 Davis Street, Elmira NY 14904, or the SPCA, Route 352, Elmira NY 14903. Frank's family offers their sincerest thanks to his sister Linda Collins and caretaker Vicki Emanuel for their wonderful care which allowed Frank to stay in his home for the past few years. Also a thank you to Dr. Dominic Romeo, and his staff, for their 30 plus years of taking care of Frank.
