Evelyn R. Manlegro

Age 77, passed away at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center on Saturday, January 27, 2023. She was the daughter of Francisco and Marcella Abella Reynes. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Octavio on December 11, 2022. She is survived by daughter Mary Lotis "Kay" Manlegro with husband Greg Whelan and their daughter Olwyn; son Joseph "Jep" Manlegro; siblings and spouses, Froilan and Brenda Reynes, Erlinda and Bert Pampliega, Catalina and Valentin Villaluz, Raul and Ermie Reynes, Faustino and Angelique Reynes, Jessica and Terry Go, Raymund and Resvy Reynes; sister-in-law Brenda Manlegro Maghinay; many loving extended family including, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who she loved deeply and they loved her.

Evelyn and her family emigrated to the United States in 1989 to start a new life. The family lived in New Jersey where she worked as a nanny. In the mid 1990's Evelyn and Octavio moved to Elmira where she continued to work as a nanny for a short time. She loved the children as her own and continued to pray for them up until her death. With her husband, Evelyn shared a devout Catholic faith and a deep prayer life. Evelyn was always the family planner. They will all miss her Christmas fruitcakes, Embutido, Pancit, her style and sense of adventure.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick's Church, 604 Park Place, Elmira NY 14901, on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. A livestream of the Mass will be available through the Facebook page for Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish (https://www.facebook.com/ElmiraCatholic).
