Elsie Thomas

Elsie Marcia (Swanson) Thomas, 88, of Elmira, entered into rest on January 7, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

She was born on July 9, 1937 in Coudersport, Pennsylvania, the oldest of 2 children born to Claude and Hazel (Lyman) Swanson.

Elsie was a loving and caring mother of 4 and she treasured taking care of her home and her children. She loved working with ceramics and cooking.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, Ivor Thomas; her son, Patrick E. Thomas; her daughter, Cynthia Lynn Scott; two grandchildren. Alexander Scott and Jacob Thomas; sister, Joyce Frank and her nephew, Pete Frank.

She is survived by her son, Michael (Pam) Thomas; her daughter, Marjorie (Robert) Macdonald; her grandchildren, Benjamin Thomas, Patrick G. Thomas, Jonathan Thomas, Andrew Thomas and Emily Scott and nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Elsie's life will be held in at the family home at a date and time to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Golden Glow Volunteer Fire Department, 214 Hendy Creek Rd, Pine City, NY 14871. Condolences may be made on this page.
