Ellen Berg

Elmira: Age 60, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 15, 2013. Ellen was born July 10, 1953 in Washington, D.C., a daughter of Mary Lee Deering, South Riding, VA and the late Harold J. Deering. She is also predeceased by her former husband David Berg and brother Brien Deering. In addition to her mother, Ellen is survived by her daughter Kathleen "Katie" Berg, Elmira; brother John Deering, The Plains VA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Lee and Kevin Kenoyer, California, Virginia and Brian Cooper, Virginia Beach VA, Mary Margaret Sutherland, Chesapeake VA; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Ellen grew up in Middlegurg VA. She earned her Bachelor's Degree from Mary Washington University in Fredericksburg VA. Ellen later moved to Elmira where she and David were married. Her primary focus was on raising her daughter Katie and keeping a close relationship with David's family who were also very involved with Katie's upbringing. Included are Katie's grandmother Pat Blackwell, uncle and aunt Dan and Carole Berg all of Elmira. Ellen worked for many years in the health services field, most recently at American Customer Care, Elmira. Following her wishes there will be no local services. A private family memorial will be held in Virginia at a later date.
