Age 101, passed away peacefully in her home of 62 years on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. Betty was born in Victor, NY, the daughter of Robert and Jennie Clary Cooley. She was predeceased by her husband, Mark W. Lambert Sr., and her son, Matthew P. Lambert.

Betty is survived by her sons, Mark W. "Billy" Lambert Jr. (Lorraine) of Millport, NY, Robert K. Lambert (Maribeth) of Penn Yan, NY, Brian P. Lambert (Cathy) of Rochester, NY, and Thomas M. "Ty" Lambert of Rochester, NY; daughter, Mary E. "MB" Lambert of Rochester, NY, who is predeceased by her spouse, Lacy Callen; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Betty was also loved by three little "fur grandbabies" who comforted her until the end.

Betty was a devout Catholic whose infamous rosary chains brought healing and comfort to family, friends, and even strangers throughout her lifetime. She loved spending time with her large family and many friends. Betty especially enjoyed welcoming her children's friends into her home and feeding them her delicious cooking-particularly her famous brownies, which many still talk about to this day.

Betty also loved gardening and enjoyed connecting with the birds that greeted her each day. She was an avid bridge player and known to be a fierce competitor, even against her own children.

If you were to ask Betty the secret to her long life, she would say it was her faith and her love for family and friends. She might also tell you the answer was in two simple words: Drink water.

A funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira. A celebratory lunch in Betty's honor will follow at Hill Top Inn, 171 Jerusalem Hill Rd. Elmira, NY 14901. All friends and family are welcome.
