Eileen Byrne Laux

Eileen was born in Scranton, PA, then adopted and raised by her loving parents, the late Terence J. and Maureen Byrne of Oak Park, Illinois.

She is survived by her children, John Laux of Bellevue, WA, Kathleen Laux with husband George Zilahi and daughter Annabel Zilahi of Palmyra, NJ, and Ryan Laux with wife Amanda of Elmira, NY; sister Kathy McCauley and husband Tom of River Forest, Illinois; nephew Thomas Byrne McCauley and wife Kelly; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends, in particular her "partner in crime" Margaret George.

After receiving her Sociology degree from the Univ. of Illinois, Eileen dedicated her life to her family and her work. Most notably she was a long-time social worker at Elcor Nursing Facility, channeling her kind nature into serving residents and their families. Her sweet nature, sense of humor, and quiet strength were evident to all who knew her. She will be missed beyond measure.

Eileen is predeceased by her parents, ex-husband and dear friend Mark Laux, her loving companion Jerry Swegan of North Carolina, and many beloved pets.

At her request there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to the Arctic League, P O Box 113, Elmira NY 14902.
