Edward Cloke

October 20, 1944 — October 28, 2017

Age 73, passed away peacefully at home after a brief illness on Saturday, October 28, 2017, with his loving family by his side. Ed was born in Elmira, son of the late Edward L. and Christine Fierro Cloke. He is also predeceased by his wife Sharyn Barry Cloke; daughter Kristin Cloke Erbach; and sister Mary Ann Lepkowski. Ed is survived by his children and their families, Jim Powell and family of Park City UT; Amy and Jimmy Scaramucci of Littleton MA with children, Jack and Nina; Matthew and Lesley Cloke of Boulder CO with son Barry and another son expected in January; Edward Cloke of Elmira with Colleen O'Brien and his children, Gabriella and Cassandra; Sarah and Peter Keenan of Elmira with sons, Leo, Oliver and Charlie; Megan and Ngai Otieno of Dorchester MA; son-in-law Tom Erbach, Jr. of Elmira with daughter Samantha; siblings and their spouses, Marguerite and Kevin McDonough of Endwell NY, Kathleen Cloke of Elmira, Patricia and Joe Call of Elmira, Joseph and Nancy Cloke of Elmira; numerous nieces and nephews. Ed had a great childhood where he grew up in and around "The Patch". He was a graduate of Notre Dame High School. Ed was employed by Thatcher Glass until they left the area. He retired from Chemung County as the director of the HEAP program. Ed was a long time active communicant of St. Mary's Church. He was a long time member of the John J. Lee Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and was a former president of their corporation. Ed loved puttering in his garage. An avid Boston Red Sox fan, he made yearly trips to Fenway Park with longtime friends, Tony, Joe and Koz. Ed was known for his great sense of humor and his ability to provide a laugh. His most cherished time was spent with his family who will miss him dearly. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Church, Elmira, on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. followed by committal prayers and interment at St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery. Those wishing may remember Ed with a donation to the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge, c/o Megan Otieno, 36 Van Winkle Street, Apt. 3, Dorchester MA 02124. Officers and members of the A.O.H. will meet at McInerny Funeral Home on Wednesday, at 7:00 p.m. to conduct a service for our brother, Ed. Signed, Tim Tobin, President.
