Edward Casey

November 14, 1941 — December 18, 2016

of Elmira NY, born in Ithaca on November 14, 1941, passed away on December 18, 2016. Ted was pre-deceased by his wife of 20 years, Jo Ella (Van Kirk). He is survived by his daughter Kimberley Anne and her partner Maria Morales of Orlando, FL; son Matthew and wife Jennifer, and Ted's adoring grandchildren, Samantha, William and Benjamin of Canton MA; partner Marcia Britton of Elmira; sister Sheila Drake of Winder GA; brother-in-law Gary Van Kirk and wife Nancy and her daughters, Andrea and Angela; sister-in-law Susan Mundt and husband John of Myrtle Beach SC; sister-in-law Pam Belles and husband Ted Bennet of Albany NY. Ted was the beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. Ted graduated from Cornell University and received a Master's in Education from Elmira College. He served as a Lieutenant in the United States Army where he ran an Officer's Club. During the terrible flood of 1972, Ted, in his position in food administration for the Elmira school district, helped direct the distribution of food and services to the recovering town. He was the owner and operator of Boss Tweed's, the Boathouse and Bagel Creations where he first showed his children his joy in cooking. In his years of happy retirement, Ted turned his talents and generosity toward hand-crafting beautiful pieces of furniture for his friends and family. He was happiest reading, golfing, spending time with his family and playing euchre or watching football with his pals. Ted was an extraordinary gentleman and friend. A private ceremony for family and friends will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VA Medical Center, 76 Veterans Avenue, Bath NY 14810.
