Age 83, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2025, in San Diego.  Dennis was born and raised in Elmira.  He was predeceased by his parents, John and Helen Coughlin.  Dennis is survived by his sister Anne M. Coughlin of Elmira; brothers, John M. “Jack” Coughlin (Alice) of Binghamton and William J. Coughlin (Patricia) of Pennsylvania; three nieces, two nephews, six grandnieces and five grandnephews.

Dennis was a 1959 graduate of Notre Dame High School where he was the class valedictorian.  He went on to graduate from LeMoyne College in Syracuse and received an M.D. from Georgetown University.  Dennis did his residency in dermatology at the University of Illinois.  After completing his medical training, Dennis served as a doctor in the US Army in Vietnam (24th EVAC Hospital) and the Valley Forge Army Hospital achieving the rank of Major.  He had a long career as a doctor in San Diego.  Dennis was a kindhearted person who had a passion for charitable work.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service, with military honors and committal prayers, at St. Peter & Paul’s Cemetery, Elmira, on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.   Enter the cemetery by way of the Mount Zoar Road gate.
