Dr. Andrew Thomas (Andy) Colucci passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 11, 2025. He was born in Elmira, NY, the second to youngest and last surviving of 8 children, of the late Andrea and Daria (Masia) Colucci. He is survived by his children, Mary Grace Guenther, Joseph Colucci, Andrew Colucci and Jeanette Booth, Mark Colucci and Maureen O’Sullivan, David Colucci and Elizabeth Johnson, his many grandchildren, Adrien, Damien, and Nicholas Guenther, Michael, Caleb, and Aidan Colucci, and Maria Colucci-Yunis, along with 3 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife of 68 years Marie Gallo Colucci, son Paul Colucci, and grandson Andrew Colucci.
After completing his junior year at St Bonaventure College, Andy was accepted into Georgetown Dental School where he graduated in 1956 with a doctoral degree in dentistry. He went on to serve in the Air Force for 4 years, while stationed at Otis Air Force Base on Cape Cod, living in Falmouth, MA.
Andy opened a dentist office in Elmira in 1960 and practiced until his retirement in 1996. He was well known in the community for being a gentle and kind dentist who treated all patients, regardless of their ability to pay.
He was a self-taught and exceptional gardener, cook, and wine maker, always sharing the bounty of vegetables, food, and wine, with the community. For close to 30 years after his retirement, he volunteered so much of his time to the Mount Savior Monastery, working in their garden, cooking meals, and helping with livestock.
Andy was loved for his kindness, generosity, and wry sense of humor. He was quick to laugh and expressed joy and gratitude for his family, friends, and life, all the way to his final days.
Outliving all of his siblings and wife, he was fearless in facing his death and truly happy to go, so he could be with Marie who he loved more than words can express.
