Obituary for Dorothy R. "Dottie" Saginario
December 23, 1943 - June 7, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dorothy R. Saginario, a beloved sister, and cherished friend, who left this world on June 7, 2026, at the age of 82. Born in Elmira, NY, Dottie spent her life in the heart of the Finger Lakes, proudly calling Horseheads her home.
Dottie was a remarkable woman whose independence shone through in all that she did. A graduate of Thomas Edison High School, she set out on a path marked by determination and ambition, beginning her career as an office manager and bookkeeper in Rochester before becoming the Vice President of Finance at EDC Management. Her dedication and expertise in the property management sector left a lasting impact on those who had the pleasure of working alongside her.
In her personal life, Dottie found joy in the simple pleasures-solving crossword puzzles, delving into captivating books, and spending weekends with friends on Keuka Lake. While she may not have been an outdoorsy type, the natural beauty of the lake brought her a sense of peace and contentment. Dottie was also a devoted communicant, first at St. Anthony's Catholic Church and later at St. Patrick's, where she found community and solace.
Dorothy is survived by her loving brothers, John and James Saginario, as well as her dear aunt, Elizabeth Saginario. Each of them will carry her memory close to their hearts.
A visitation in honor of Dottie will be held on Tuesday, June 16th at 10:00, with a funeral service led by her brother, Rev. James Saginario, at 11:00, with committal to follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to celebrate a life well-lived and to share their fondest memories of a remarkable woman who touched the hearts of many.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier in Dorothy's memory. Though she has departed from this earthly realm, her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
The Family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and all the staff at Chemung County Nursing Facility for the wonderful care they provided to Dottie.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents James Saginario Sr. and Eileen Saginario, as well as her brother Victor Saginario.
