Dorothy Irene Casey Elmira: Age 86, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center after an extended illness; her devoted family at her side. She was born in Blossburg PA to John Stanley and Stella (Sherant) Klugo June 10, 1925. Dorothy is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 61 years, John "Jack" Casey; brothers, Charles Klugo, Elmira and Dr. Richard (Lynne) Klugo, Temple, TX. Family members also include brothers-in-law, James (Barbara) Casey, Naples, FL, Charles (Elaine) Casey, Chattanooga, TN; sister-in-law Cecile Zaccari, Lawrence, MA; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her brother John Klugo. Dorothy was a 1942 graduate of Elmira Free Academy. She went on to St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1945. Dorothy retired from St. Joseph's Hospital after many years of service. She was a member of St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association and a long time communicant of St. Patrick's Church. Visiting hours will be at McInerny Funeral Home, corner of Walnut and W. Water Sts., on Friday, May 18, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. A prayer service will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 9:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church. Interment, with committal prayers, will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation, 555 St. Joseph's Blvd., Elmira NY 14901, or Southern Tier Hospice, 11751 E. Corning Road, Corning NY 14830. St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing alumni will meet at St. Patrick's Church on Saturday at 10:15 a.m. to form an honor guard. The family thanks the staffs of St. Joseph Hospital and Arnot Ogden Medical Center for their outstanding compassion and professional care. Thank you also to the volunteers at Arnot Ogden and the exceptional service from the personnel of Southern Tier Hospice.
