Donald H. Reynolds, age 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, in the company of his two sons. Born on May 7, 1944, in Coudersport, Pennsylvania, he was the eldest son of the late Donald W. Reynolds and Betty Miller (Betty V. Bird).

Don grew up in various communities across New York and Pennsylvania. He graduated from Thomas A. Edison High School in Elmira Heights, New York, where he met his first wife Linda Doan. He went on to earn a degree in psychology from Elmira College.

He served a long career with NYSEG, where he met Cheryl Cooper. The two were married in 1986 and shared a beautiful life together. Following their retirement from NYSEG, Don and Cheryl lived in Newfield, King Ferry, and Southport, New York, as well as The Villages, Florida.

They thoroughly enjoyed their retirement years, spending their winters and the majority of their time soaking up the warmth and community in The Villages. Don recently returned permanently to Southport to care for Cheryl as she courageously battled breast cancer, prior to her passing in June 2026.

Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cheryl Cooper Reynolds; his mother, Betty Miller; his sister, Cheryl Ann Reynolds (Tom Westropp); and his brother, Bob (Robert) Miller. He is survived by his sister, Terri Miller-Walker (Kevin Walker); his two sons, Todd Reynolds (Carolyn Reynolds) and Tim Reynolds (Ann DiPetta); and his four grandchildren, Isabelle and Camille Reynolds, and Jack and Liam Reynolds.

He also leaves behind his brother-in-law, Jan Cooper (JoAnn Cooper); sister-in-law, Kathy (Cooper) Swimelar (Jeff Swimelar); and many loving nieces and nephews: Rachel Malone (Rory Malone), Kevin Miller (Tiffany Miller), Brooks Miller (Jenna Miller), Samantha Gray (Mathew Gray), Jenna Harding (Evan Harding), BreAnn Swimelar, and Mathew Swimelar (Sara Swimelar), as well as a close-knit circle of extended family, neighbors, and dear friends from both New York and Florida.

To find oneself at the end of life surrounded by wonderful, loving people does not happen by accident. This is a testament to a life well lived. Don, you were a loved, respected, and an honorable man; you will be missed.

A Celebration of Life luncheon will be in Elmira at The Elbow Room on Saturday, August 29, 2026 from 12:00 Noon - 3. p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Linda Reynolds Spirit of Nursing Award.
