Diane Sonner

63, of Hammondsport (formerly of Elmira, NY) passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 8, 2013. Diane was a 1967 graduate of Elmira Free Academy and Beardsley Business School, Elmira, NY. Diane is survived by her loving husband of 24 years David, son Chad (Eva) Houston, and daughter Rebecca (Brett) Hampson, granddaughters, Leah and Aubrey, and grandson Will Hampson. Sister Donna (Tony) Lisano and brother Thomas (Cathy) Durfey. Sister-in-Law Kim Durfey, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Pre-deceased by mother, Irene G. Durfey, father Robert H. Durfey and brother Gordon W. Durfey. She recently retired from Sikorsky (Schweizer) Aircraft after 28 years of dedicated service. Diane's life was devoted to the care and nurturing of her family and was known for her exceptional cooking. She made friends and visitors feel welcomed at her Waneta Lake home. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 12, at 4:00 p.m. at North Presbyterian Church, 921 College Ave, Elmira, NY. Friends are invited to a reception at the church celebrating Diane's life immediately following the Memorial Service. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in her memory to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 601 Elmwood Avenue, Rochester NY 14642.
