Horseheads: passed away Monday, May 9, 2016. David was the son of the late John and Mary (MacNamara) Wigsten. He was born on Terry Berry farm in Watkins Glen NY during a blizzard, requiring his father to take a team of horses and a sleigh to the village to get the doctor and bring him back to the farm. David was predeceased by his loving wife of 47 years, Patricia Jovanelli Wigsten on February 17, 2012; brother, Paul, brother and sister-in-law, John and Kitty Wigsten; sister Mary Elizabeth Baker, sister Margaret (Cy) Perkins. David is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Catherine and Henry Hughes; brother-in-law Joseph Baker; sister-in-law Josephine Wigsten; along with numerous nieces and nephews. David held management positions with United Parcel Service and Anheuser Busch, Inc., served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and was a life member of the American Legion and Elks Club in Horseheads NY. He was very blessed to be surrounded by wonderful friends and neighbors who extended their kindness and brought great joy to his life. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Sunday, May 15, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, May 16, 2016, 10:00 a.m., St. Mary's Church, Elmira. Interment, with committal prayers and military honors, will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
