David Conklin, Sr.

Age 69, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, December 13, 2015. David was born in Elmira, the son of the late Francis R. and Ruth M. (Rorick) Conklin. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Patricia Rourke Conklin; children and their families, Kimberlie Jordan of Elmira with son Kyle; Katherine Marie Durrant of Ithaca with children, Sarah, A.J., Billy and Anna Danner; Teresa Conklin of Elmira with fiancé Gary Shope; David Conklin, Jr. of Elmira with children, Hannah and Kaler; Sarah Conklin with Mark Tota of Horseheads with children, Jonathan, Anthony and Dominic; "grandchildren" Allen and Zayne; great granddaughters, Mina and Lydia; sisters, Helen Sullivan with husband James of Horseheads, Judy Cruise of Elmira, Patricia French of Horseheads, Linda Roblyer of Elmira; many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. He was predeceased by brothers-in-law, William Cruise and Thomas French; nephew Brian Cruise. David was a decorated U.S. Navy veteran having earned a Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medal for service in Vietnam. He was totally dedicated to his family. Many people were touched by his caring ways and generous character. David, Pat and family loved to spend time together at their place on Keuka Lake. Family and friends are invited to call at McInerny Funeral Home, 502 West Water St., Elmira on Friday, December 18, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Elmira. Military honors will follow outside of church after funeral mass. Cemetery services will take place at Woodlawn National Cemetery at a later date.
