Daryl Allen Freeman

Pine City: Age 67, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022. Daryl was born in Corning NY and raised in Elmira Heights, graduating from Thomas A. Edison High School. He is predeceased by his mother Gwendolyn (Whitcomb) Freeman, father-in-law and mother-in-law Louis and Patricia Tamara, sister-in-law Patricia Tamara Russick, brother-in-law Louis Tamara, granddaughter Olivia Hughes. Daryl is survived by his wife of 44 years Ann Tamara Freeman; father Robert Freeman, with wife Jeanne, of Lancaster PA; children, Jeniffer Volo of Bloomfield NY with husband Troy, Nicole Munson of Hemlock NY with husband Aaron, Timothy Hughes of Montour Falls with Kim Cady, Christine Aug of Charlotte NY with husband Joseph, Gary Hughes of Waverly NY with Jane Simpson, Kenneth Hughes of Pine City with wife Christy, Kimberly Hughes of Elmira with Marty McInerny; sister Carol Shilling, with William Higgins, of Emmaus PA; brother-in-law Stephen Russick of New Bern NC; sister-in-law Frances Tamara of Elmira Heights; eleven grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; special uncle and aunt Richard and Sandy Harrington of Pine City; special friends Robert and Kay Hughes of Hector NY; along with several other uncles, aunts, special nieces and nephews, and many cousins.

Daryl was employed by the Mitre Corporation in Fort Meade, Maryland. He retired as a facilities manager. Daryl and Ann returned to the Elmira area in 2013 to be close to their family. He was an avid sports fan, particularly enjoying the Yankees, Syracuse basketball, Buffalo Bills and the Washington Capitals. Daryl was a person of integrity and dependability, generous with his time when others needed help. Most important to Daryl were his faith, his family and his country. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. Interment, with committal prayers, will take place on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at St. Peter & Paul’s Cemetery.
