Daniel A. "Dan" Chalk, Jr., 70, of Elmira, passed away on September 6, 2026.

He was born in Elmira on July 12, 1956 to the late Daniel A. Sr. and Beverly (Thomas) Chalk.

Daniel was a 1974 graduate of Elmira Free Academy. He worked for the US Post Office in Elmira for many years until his retirement.

Dan loved music. He played the accordion when he was younger and loved to listen to music. Dan was an avid NY Jets fan and loved to watch football games. He also enjoyed off-roading vehicles.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved canine companion, Ted. They were inseparable until Ted's passing. He was also preceded in death by his twin brother, Donald Chalk and his grandmother with whom he was very close, Elsie Auble.

Dan is survived by his brothers and sisters, David A. (Susan) Chalk, Damon A. (Rhode) Chalk, Kathleen (John) Cleary, Michelle Lepere and Nancy Griffin and many nieces, nephews and friends including his closest friend, Craig Richardson.

Per Dan's request, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dan's memory to the Chemung County SPCA.
