Consuela "Connie" Vigliante-Ogilvie, 75, of Elmira, New York, passed away unexpectedly on July 29, 2026.

Born on July 14, 1951, in Brooklyn, New York, Connie was the daughter of Concetta and Ralph Vigliante. She graduated from Demerrest Northern Valley Regional High School and then obtained a B.A. in Education from Stonybrook College.

On January 15, 1977, Connie married William "Bill" M. Ogilvie. Together they shared almost 50 years of marriage.

Connie worked in a preschool in Boston and then on to Wall Street in NYC before dedicating over a decade to raising her two daughters. Connie LOVED books, especially beautiful picture books. She obtained a master's degree in library science from the University of Buffalo and embarked on a career as a public librarian. She retired from the Steele Memorial Library in December of 2024 after almost 20 years of service.

She is survived by her husband, Bill; their daughters Lauren (Brian) Groth and Kaitlyn (Nicholas) Bacon; her cherished grandchildren Gwendolyn Groth, Bridget Groth, Vincent Bacon, Evelyn Bacon; her brother Ralph Vigliante, her sister Christine Trice, and their children. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Family and friends are invited to join us for calling hours, which will be held on August 11, 2026, from 5-7 PM at McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Church at 604 Park Pl., Elmira at 10 AM on August 12th. Burial will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.

We have sponsored an outdoor Little Red Bookshelf in her honor at the Big Flats Community Park and wish to spread children's books throughout the county.

Consuela "Connie" Vigliante-Ogilvie devoted her life to her family. She had a beautiful smile, a fabulous laugh, and a passion for books. No one entered her home without being offered a seat and some food; she will be deeply missed.
