Concetta Brescia

"Connie" Age 92, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Concetta was born in Monopoly, Italy, a daughter of Anthony and Carmela (Carrieri) Brescia. She is predeceased by brother Joseph A. Brescia and brother-in-law Edward Fisher. Connie is survived by her sisters and brother-in-law, Sandra Fisher, Carmen Fusco, Rita B. and Joseph E. Sartori, Jr.; nieces and nephews, Barbara (Rob) Grau, Ann (Scott) Brazinski, Linda (Brian) Waldbaum, Joseph E. (Melinda) Sartori, Deacon Paul Sartori, David G. (Denise) Sartori, and Stephen (Betsy) Fusco. Connie worked for the New York Telephone Company (Verizon) for 42 years, with her last position being their purchasing agent. She attended Syracuse University taking many classes, including art classes. Connie enjoyed painting with oils, as well as watercolors. She loved to travel and would often paint pictures of countries she visited. Music was also an important part of her life. She played the piano for family gatherings, as well as for her own enjoyment, playing both classical as well as contemporary music. Connie loved her Catholic faith, family and friends and brought joy to everyone she knew. All are welcome to Concetta's Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, 10:30 a.m., St. Mary's Church, Elmira. Interment, with committal prayers, will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Those wishing may remember Connie with a donation to St. Mary's Church, 224 Franklin Street, Elmira NY 14904. Connie's family expresses their profound gratitude to the 3rd floor staff of the Chemung County Nursing Facility for giving Connie excellent and tender loving care for the time she was with them.
