Claire Macinerney

age 83, born into Eternal Life on August 11, 2014. Claire was born May 17, 1931 a daughter of William and Theresa (Lynch) McCarthy. She was the beloved wife of George MacInerney for nearly 59 years before his death in 2011. Claire is also predeceased by her toddler son Kevin and infant daughter Beth Ann. Claire is survived by, daughter Terry Taggart-Cerio and husband Jay Cerio of Hammondsport, with their children Melissa Heath, Amanda (Tanner) Webb, Caitlin (Justin) Vose, Ben Cerio and Anna Cerio; son John MacInerney of Chicago IL, with his son Kevin; son Michael MacInerney of Oneonta NY with Julie Colunio, and their children Sean MacInerney and Skyler Selfridge, Michael, Nicholas and Anna Colunio; daughter Tricia Babcock of Elmira (Richard Babcock) and their children, Katy (Bill) VanDewark, Abigail (Jordan) D'Angelo and Kyle Babcock; daughter Anne MacInerney of Elmira Heights, with Brian Kennedy, and her children Stephanie (fiancé Brian Daugherty) MacInerney and Andrew O'Geen; Also survived by great grandchildren, Kaleb, Sequoia, Olivia, Jamison, Isabella, Mason, Blake, Judah, Cooper, Anna and Bryce; sisters, Joan Ninivaggi, Suzanne Duffy, Mary McCarthy and Christine McCarthy; along with several nieces and nephews. Claire is remembered with love and gratitude for her devotion as a caregiver and protector of her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. Claire was patient, loving and kind, and is admired for the strength that she exhibited throughout her life. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira on Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. A prayer service will be held at 11:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon at St. Mary's Church, Elmira. Long-time family friend Father Robert MacNamara will be the presider. Father MacNamara officiated at George and Claire's wedding 62 years ago. Interment will then take place at Bath National Cemetery where Claire will be laid to rest with her husband. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Claire with a donation to the Keuka Foundation, Attn: Fred & Harriet Taylor Health Facility, 7571 State Route 54, Bath NY 14810. Claire resided at the Fred & Harriet Taylor Health facility for the past year and the family wishes to extend their sincere thanks for the wonderful care Claire received while there.
