Catherine Grannis

Catherine Smith Grannis "Kate" Elmira: Age 91, passed away peacefully at Elcor Health Services, with her loving family by her side, on Sunday, August 12, 2012. Kate was born in Rochester NY, a daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (Reger) Smith. She married Thomas E. Grannis on May 18, 1946 in Elmira and they were married for 61 years before his passing on September 28, 2007. Kate was also predeceased by brothers, Arthur J. and Francis Smith; sisters, Margaret T. Houle and Jean E. Seeley. She is survived by her children with their spouses, Mary T. and Bruce Newkirk, Kathleen A. and Louis Sterpe, Patricia J. and Frank Bohart, Donna M. and Michael Stempin, Thomas J. and Jill Grannis, all of Elmira; grandchildren, Theresa Strong, Charlie Sterpe, Debra (Dean) Benjamin, Susan (David) Ackerman, Christine (Michael) Saccucci, Mary Pat (Steven) Cantando, Michelle (Chris Rossi) Bohart, Frankie (Niki) Bohart, Matthew (fiancée Danielle) Bohart, Michael Stempin, John (Lisa) Stempin, Jessica (Cody) Price, Emily Grannis; 25 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson. Kate was retired from Morrison Interior Design. It was her request to have private family services.
